Alert! Lake hood

moneyburner

FRIEND
Western Washington
Drove by Lake Hood on the way to check my tie down; if you have, or know someone who has an airplane on the lake you might want to get down there. There is about a foot of water on the ice. Water up to the bungies on one Cub I passed. It's warm and blowing about 25 out of the south.

I hope this isn't 2003 again: that's when the Moneyburner earned her name. I can't afford to do that again.

boy I bet they will be out on the golf course in Palmer soon.....

Seems to be laying down a bit - I'm going home.

I drove by here at around 9:30 - the water was almost to the bungie covers on the plane on the left. It either has gone down or someone went out and blocked them up. A lot of ripped up wing covers today.

check your tie downs....
couldn't find the birchwood windy thread,

but gusts to 54 Mph in last half hour at birchwood,

looks breezy at lake hood too....

not really a "red alert", but there is quite a bit of overflow on the lake. Make sure you're skis are above the waterline before the freezing weather returns!
