Dan Dufault - Straight Floats Turner, Maine to Soldotna, Alaska

Dan Dufault left Maine a few days ago with his fiance to deliver a C-185. He is now somewhere NW of Duluth.

Here is his SPOT Tracker:

Dan says that AVGAS for his high compression IO-520 machine has been hard to find. He has had to carry fuel in 5 gallon cans to fuel at a lake where he can land....and that is something like 16 five gallon cans to fill those wing tanks.

There may be threads on this before, but can any of you along the route chime in and let him know where he can obtain AVGAS on straight floats?

Thanks,
Bob Breeden

From the vicinity of Duluth, southwest to jamestown or Bismarck, ND. Lake at Jamestown or Missouri River at BIS. From there to Fort Peck, MT. Then Either Seeley Lake, MT, or Polson, MT. Spokane, Felts Field in eastern WA. Seattle area has lots of options, then up the coast.

He missed good fueling spots in MN - Sky Harbor Duluth and Scotts Seaplane Base in Crane Lake. East of the first and west of the second. Scotts would have been a great spot to top everything off with 100LL before entering Canada. Flin Flon should have 100LL and he's about there. Looks like his SPOT is working well.

Thanks all! We are in Buffalo Narrows right now taking our time and enjoying life. Gas has been much easier to get up here. Canada has been a blast people are so accommodating. Should be in Alaska in a couple days. Thanks AKtango using your info to plan ahead.
