I have purchased Roger Borer STC to upgrade my PA18-105 (flaps, balanced tail, heel brakes, dual 18gal tanks, 0-235, 31"ABW) to a 0-320 (no model specified in STC). Also purchased STC to raise gross to 1750 lbs. I would like opinions on:
1) Which model/HP of 0-320 to upgrade to (assume open on this since not specified in STC, thinking 160HP)?
2) Does baffling, exhaust, starter, alt, mags, all work with new engine?
3) Placement of oil cooler (prefer rear cooler so nose cowl modification isn't necessary).
4) Prop type and pitch (takeoff and landing performance most important)?
My current 0-235 is excellent running low time on factory overhaul and in great shape but need more HP for higher elevation WY-MT flying. I understand I need a new engine mount to comply with AD.
Any thoughts and help are appreciated.
