    Cessna 180 Stinger

I have a 1957 C-180 with a small 7/8 inch stinger and I want to replace it with a bigger one. Can I just purchase a larger one and swap them out, or are there things I have to do inside the tail to make it work.

I know I will have to address the tail wheel head.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    180 stinger

The saddle bracket(with the steel sleeve and rubber bushings) in the aft bulkhead that the stinger bolts to, will have to be changed to match the new stinger diameter...The forward end of the stinger slides into the next bulkhead with a piece of rubber hose over the end....The later 185 stingers won't fit (forward bulkhead)without modification....Check the parts books before you buy....

Gonna be some new alternatives for stingers shortly instead of paying Cessna's exorbitant price.

Thanks for your replies. Steve what do you mean??????

    MTV,

I put the small tires on, but the plane is sitting in a lake of slush and water. Rain and snow for three days now... No real hurry for skis yet. Very warm for this time of year.

I figured the project would not be an easy one, nothing seems to be with these tin cans...

I long for my cub back.

New manufacturer going through approval right now that if they do it the way they have done in the past we will see a product improvement.
