Puttering along yesterday for the first mow job of the grass season and all hell breaks loose. I can't believe the wheel walked itself off the shaft without me noticing it. Fat, dumb and happy, Complacency, call it what you will. I am sure glad it didn't happen in 5th gear on the road, M's are fast. That would have been a real bitch. So "preflight your tractor" is my new motto for the short term...One of the wheel clamp bolts has been broken for some time and physics did the rest I guess. Thankful I was on grass and slow.

I have seen the tread put on both directions.....having said that...I know Scout pretty well and you can NEVER tell what is going on in the guys mind. Personally I think the tractor isn't the only thing with a "screw loose" LMAO!!! Usually his tractor photo's include a big hammer and "knuckle-buster wrench. Oh....and the obligatory beer can holder.

Directional tread, that way if you get stuck going forward, you can always back out.

You can never get in deeper than you can't back out of.

Someone told me to pre flight my tractor the other day. ... I just walked back to the house after seeing a rear wheel hub bolt out and my wheel walked into the housing, rather then off the end of the axle! It is sitting at the end of the runway.

Eric, if it makes you feel better, after jacking my tractor up on a slope, I ended up with the 2500# loaded tire and wheel fell off on the ground. I spent two hours by myself getting it back on, so I could drive it back to the shop!

Years ago, we had a local rancher tip his tractor over and pin him underneath. As a result of the accident he lost his leg. Many years later the same rancher, same tractor, and the same accident happened. BUT, this time he simply unstrapped his prosthetic leg and crawled away, true story!

I deleted the M photos from my photobucket album because I have the tractor listed for sale and didn't want any action shots to detract from hopefully selling it. John, I bought that D17. It is nice. They dropped $500 Wa hoo. This D17 also has loaded tires, they are 16.9's which are larger than stock. What do you mow with in Ohio?

Eric, just call me "Mr Mower Man", I have all sorts of mowers. We have three Steiners with 5 foot front decks. Then there is the 7.5 foot pull type Lilliston that I replaced the rear wheels with a 2500 lb. 30 in diameter roller. Rolled every time I mowed. I like that a lot, but it took "time".

Next I got this 13 foot woods finish mower that was much faster. It was so much faster, that I got a woods 17 foot finish mower to speed things up more. I now mow 7-8 acres of airstrip and trim around the rwy lights in 45 minutes with it. I'll make you a deal on that 13 footer ($2,000) ??
