    Water Wings II

Hurrah! Float season is here! Got my cub and EDO-2000's in the water today. I did T&G's until I was silly. What fun! It is impressive what my Water Wings by Crosswinds STOL are able to do! They are a hydrofoil that attach to the inside of the floats. They dramatically reduce the takeoff run by almost instantly getting up on the step, as there is no plow phase. Step turns are tight and more controllable.

This is an easy mod and worth every penny IMHO! It is the equivalent of putting VG's on wings, but on floats. It's a different plane!

I hope these get approved for more floats in the near future.

If anyone is able to stop by northern Minnesota (MN78 - Turtle Lake SPB), please look me up for a test drive! You'll be impressed!

    Sounds like fun !!!!!

Just remember the "wings" also keep the airplane up longer when you're heading for that dock !!

I understand they're working on modding them somehow (hinged?) so you can get your float dolly under them. Requirement for me!!

    Glenn,
Could you give us some more information. Haven't heard anything about these for almost a year. There's nothing shown about them in the Crosswinds' web site. Where can we find out about them?

Are they STC'd for Edo 2000s on PA18s?

    Cost?

    Anything !!!!!!!!! Please !!!

How much is "every penny?" Can't find anyone who wants to say how much they cost. Also... all of the YouTube videos referenced in last year's posts have been deleted.

I sent Charlie an e-mail asking about his progress on the development of the water wings. His reply is below.

Mark, yes they will be available soon, I am in the finale stages of FAA approval and setting up for mass production. I will keep you posted when I have a set available. Thank you for your interest. Charly Center

    Thanks John Scott,
I'm aware of that previous thread. It was started by the same member as this thread (Glenn N636P),...with the same "Step Right Up Folks !" flavor.

I haven't seen any answers to most of the questions asked in the previous thread, though what "Marker60" writes is encouraging.

I realize I live at the far end of the information line, but it seems like if these really are out there, more of us would know more about them.

    So again:

Are they STC'd for Edo 2000s on PA18s? If so,...what is the STC number?

    Cost?

    Anything !!!!!!!!! Anyone !!!!!! Please !!!

Yep 6 years and 7 posts = spamish.. considering they aren't approved by the FAA yet, and the questions don't get answered in this or the previous time this was introduced.

I'd like to see the attachment and reinforcement of same... now and 1000 take offs later.

SOME people HAVE them, are testing, but it seems that they've been told to keep quiet for now.

What Nimpo means is, that until Mr. Center gets his affairs sorted out with the guy that actually paid to do the molds, building and testing, he will probably not put them into production for legal reasons.

If he does the right thing, they would be available now.

    I didn't say anything.
Geo said there are some "contractual issues" to be resolved (honored) before things can progress.
I'm waiting too, but George needs to figger out how to get 'em to fit over my float dolly. Next (fishy) meeting w/George is first week o' July. Agenda includes Mofowkers!

    George

What was that quote? "you knew it was a possibility"? Suck it up, off a couple of inspectors and then go fishing

Still thinking about a trip down to play between Yakutat and Cordova late July, let me know if you want to come play :P

Crosswinds inc. AquaPlane® is on the website.
