    Sound Advice needed

    Sound... as in noise.

I'm (already) thinking about soundproofing my cockpit. Does anyone have a good idea of where most sound enters my space? I'm thinking that under the floorboards isn't as necessary as under/behind the boot cowls. Natch, I want to get it as quiet as possible without adding too much extra weight, but I'm willing to carry the weight if I'm convinced it's helping my impaired hearing.

    Did you hear me?

Logan 100% of the sound comes in through the two big holes in the sides of your head just plug them, no weight gain and no sound.

Truly effective sound damping material is heavy. The greatest damping comes from active noise canceling headsets.

Consider that your boot cowl is a big drum being beaten by everything forward of the firewall. It is facing into the cabin.

For sure I'd do my best to deaden the firewall before anything else.

Hopefully Stewart B will chime in here with his articles on passive VS. active sound dampening on how a noise canceling headset does not really reduce hearing loss.

I'm with DW on this one

Seriously all I would ever do is the boot cowl and firewall since the majority of the noise comes from in front of you not behind you. If it were mine I wouldn't bother at all.

Dennis, you're such a genius. I'll have to plug your mouth with a beer when you come.

I have new diamond tuft stuff for inside the firewall, what else can I do? I think there's a fair bit of noise outside @ the exhaust pipe, no?
