I highly recommend it. Just spent 40 hours in a J-3 going cross-country. It's a great way to see the country. And, with a headwind, you get to see a lot of it for a long time.
I can't say enough about the people you meet on the journey. Most are terrific and go out of their way to make your trip that much better. You can't help but come off one of these trips refreshed.
Yes -jrussel--it is the people. A recent stop at Winnemucca to wait for the snow to quit. Randy and John made my delay very enjoyable. If you are in the area stop and see the good folks and see Randy's nice Waco.
Reminds me of a cross country a friend and I did a few years ago. I bought a J3 in Darby Montana and we flew it back to Wisconsin. It was a trip of a lifetime for a flatlander like me. Regretfully we didn't take any pictures so I can't share the spectacular scenery that we encountered, not a day goes by that I don't think about and visualize that trip.A trip like that is truly about the experience, but the people you meet treat you to fond memories for the rest of your life.
Lets go again Jim--I'll buy a wall-mart camera  Maybe we should check out Dave's Johnson Crick. The photo tour REALLY gets me thinkin. I doubt I could get quality pics like these though.
The "capture" of a great adventure with excellent pictures. Well . .except the one with me "feeding the face" at the Shrack Farm Dinner, S.C. Org. hat and all. Two L-4 Drivers/Restorers (Dick & Dan Hall) have their backs to the camera. Like all have said prior . . meeting fine people with the same "fever" is the added reward for any great air adventure. Larry C.

This reminds me SO much of the trip from Hood River, Oregon all the way to OTZ in the J-3. It is everything GOOD that I remember from the trip that followed "What Could POSSIBLY Go Wrong...."
I'm with ya on this one Cloudy. I am saddened to say my only trip back to to Lock Haven was in a pa31T. While I yearn for the schmell of burnt kerosheen, I would love to make the trip in my old pa-12 that is now long gone down the road. I am so thankful that he shared his trip.
