A Coast Guard helicopter picked up two people Tuesday night who survived a plane crash southeast of King Salmon, the agency said in a press release today.
The two were aboard a Piper Cub that went down about 39 miles from King Salmon, on the Alaska Peninsula. They were uninjured and were flown to King Salmon after the rescue.
The Coast Guard said it picked up an emergency signal about 5:30 p.m. After a C-130 flew to the area and verified the signal, an HH-60 helicopter was sent in to pick up the two shortly after 10 p.m
