I know some of the lakes around the Anchorage - Wasilla area are ok to land on.... My lake has 2 feet plus of good ice and is clear of snow.... no standing water and no overflow.... but alot of the lakes around the area have standing water and or overflow...... Redshirt for example is no good with about an inch of ice with 6 - 8 inches of water underneath...... Be Careful...... Sounds like illiamna way has similar conditions...so much for the spring caribou hunts....

I do not know about Iliamna, but I have a friend with a sat phone that said the enitre NE end of Lake Clark is open - down past Tommy Island. Even the protected coves up near Portage creek are completely ice free. A few cool days could put some fool ice on top, but most likelywill not build up a real surface.

Careful.
