    Voltage regulator location

Does anyone have drawings to relocate the voltage regulator when
installing ECI's angled spin-on oil filter mod (O-320)?

    Thanks,
    Nick

    voltage regulator relocate

I don't have any drawings but I'll try to find a picture of the mounting bracket that I made and the new location for the regulator on the right hand side of the panel.

Picture is now in the Photo Gallery

OK, I found the picture that shows you what I did. Go to Photo gallery/ members album/t/tom and you will fine a picture that might help.

I installed the B&C filter conversion at the last annual inspection and had the same interference problem to which others have referred. I made a drawing on the back of a cardboard box that I tossed when the bracket was completed. I made the bracket while the A&P/IA was cobbling oil lines. He was impressed with the concept and the rest is history......

Good Luck getting the bolts out of the original bracket, and don't drop them on the inside of the fuselage where they could get lodged where you don't want them.

Thanks, Tom, Steve. Tom, a few more Qs:

    1. What did you attach the bracket to the F/W with (e.g. 3/16" bolts)? My VR is mounted on two rubber mounts bolted to F/W with four 1/4" bolts/nuts.

    2. Were you able to clear the fresh air intake box?

    3. Did you re-route the shielded bat wire to your electrical panel, or just replaced it with a longer one? (Can't see any cabling running right to left along the F/W, so my guess is you went straight back somewhere under the VR).

    Thanks,
    Nick

    Update

    1) The bracket was primed and painted, then attached to the firewall with 3/16" bolts. The voltage regulator is attached using some rubber washers that you can barely see in the picture.

    2) Yes, we were able to clear the air intake box. It is a tight fit, however.

    3) I will need to look at the wire routing again. The A&P/IA did that work while I was away on business. I will look next week if I get a chance.
