Bird strike, 737, Ketchikan, AK

AlaskaAV

GONE WEST
Mission, TX
Aeronca1 sent me these pictures of a bird strike on a 737 that is flown by his airline. Come to find out, the aircraft was one of our 737s that we, Wien Consolidated, took delivery of in 1979 as 493WC.

Looks like an eagle to me but I could be wrong.

Word of caution: some of the pictures are a little gory so if that bothers you, please do not bring up the photos.

Have you head the story of your flight crew that hit a salmon inbound to Juneau in one of your 727s? As far as I know they were inbound over the island at say 2700 foot and must have rustled up an eagle that was carrying a 20 to 30 pound salmon that went through the first officer's windscreen when the aircraft scared it. No real bad injuries other than minor cuts and ended up with a normal landing. That has to still be floating around your airline. Oh, the stories we could tell about our two airlines in Alaska given time, right? Want to join me?
