Yankee Air Museum Burns

This was a huge loss to our local aviation community, and also to the larger aviation community. Besides the historic planes that were lost, there were a number of galleries that displayed memorabilia, some of which is irreplaceable. The wood hangar was built in 1941 by Henry Ford to build bombers, and was worth the trip to see in itself.

Fortunately, the B17, B25, DC3/C47, and the gullwing Stinson were all saved, but that was it. And thankfully, no-one was injured during the fire. I had heard that four guys ran in and pushed the DC3 out the door. Talk about running on adrenalin!

Hopefully, it will be rebuilt.

Anne.
