OK, here goes:
My sister is a Human Society volunteer, and a problem exists in this state. The problem is that many good dogs are put to sleep just because they are large. Many people now have small yards, and adopt the smaller dogs, but not the bigger ones.
A couple of weeks ago, two fine purebred German Shepherds were put to sleep. The owner no longer wanted them, and "surrendered" them. If a dog isn't adopted within 7 days, they are put to sleep.
I got to thinking, perhaps folks in Alaska (or the more northern states)would like to adopt the larger dogs, Shepherds, Rots, Great Pyrinees, Labs, etc., etc....
Any suggestions?
