Greetings, friends and Supercub.org family, please make sure that Friday and Saturday, May 20-21, 2022, are on your calendars to attend the 8th Annual Great Minnesota Aviation Gathering. We will hold the event again this year at the Buffalo Municipal Airport (KCFE).
We are putting together a terrific program again this year, and this year's event will be extra special! Roger and Darin Meggers have been kind enough to offer to bring Super Cub #1 to the GMAG and give a presentation on the history of the very first Super Cub! The Meggers are well known as superb craftsmen. AOPA utilized their services in restoring and updating the AOPA Super Cub that was given away a few years ago, a testimony to their skills and art form. I had the privilege of seeing Super Cub #1, and she is a beauty! Many of you may have seen her at AirVenture in past years, or at Sun-N-Fun.
Here are some photos...
AOPA (and many other publications) have paid tribute to the Meggers with some terrific articles (https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2014/july/pilot/f_cub), but hearing them in person is a great experience.
In addition, we have had a seaplane flight school come forward to offer a 3 hour seaplane ground school course on Friday morning, May 20. This course will be free to those who register for the GMAG ($10 per day, or complimentary for members of the MN Pilots Assn). What a deal! Attendance will be limited to those morning sessions, and registration details will follow.
We will have a total of 22 Hangar Flying Sessions, including one with Mark Baker, President of the AOPA.
We look forward to seeing you and celebrating aviation!
Randy
