Where did you fly today?

Flew to visit a friend I hadn't seen in a while. Boulder Lake near Nevis, MN
There's a lot less snow south of me. Over a foot on my strip and they only had a few inches.
Time yo get the skis on the Rebel soon.

It was a warm day after Christmas in West Texas. Gotta love these sunsets! Anyone else have any spectacular pics?

On my way to a job Monday morning, no plane in the pic but I have a half dozen or so LZ's in the range on the right, that should count for something. Just another day of looking at a dog's hind end all day (Mack truck joke.) There is nothing better then to be pounding down the road, and be able to think, "been there, done that, etc."

And here I thought I was the only one who used that joke!

I spent far too much time staring at Harold's behind. Okay, I named my bulldog, so? We spent so much time together it would have been rude not to. I still have flashbacks to riding through snowstorms in Eastern Quebec, trusting that Harold could see, because I sure couldn't. He got me through, because nobody could have been that lucky! (joke - I realize just exactly how stupid all that was, but it was a different world back then)

Finally got out yesterday after a month. Checked out the ice road on north Gull. (ice has been really sketchy this year due to heavy snow cover)

Hitched a ride in a friends S21 to Amarillo to pick up a Super Cub and made a run down the Palo Duro Canyon.

The gear got a workout on this mountain top wind blown snow but once walking around I was breaking through the crust to my knees.

Stid - how do you like the AV-30 units? Are they responsive similar to vacuum based ones? The Garmin round ones (GI 275) will not fit in the Husky A-1B panel since not enough room, but the new panels with A-1C will fit the Garmin. It appears these are much smaller. Do they plug into another unit somewhere? Thanks!

Very happy with the AV-30s so far, easy install and impressive amount of features. Dialing in the in flight adjustments now. The temps have been -30 ish, just too hard to keep the engine warm enough to prevent the vent from trying to freeze up even with mods, don't want to blow a prop seal. Forecast has warmer weather next week so hope to dial in the AOA setting more. I did note that the AV30s seem to work better in that kind of cold better than my old vac system., my old AI was unreliable below zero.

Cathy and I christened the new to us Super Cub today. My regular partner in crime had prior commitments so didn't get lured into the sketchy places. ;)

Spent a night weathered in at that “FBO”. Exterminator must have just been there. Dead cockroaches everywhere. In the middle of the night a possum or armadillo came in to check on me. I was sure happy to find that airport as it was dark and the fog was rolling in.
