This is silly ( said with all due respect)! It's a drop in box. If you took that same box and threw it into your extended baggage or on top of your rear seat, then it would just be cargo. Don't over-think this....
I can't stand weak brakes either! I'm always hearing about putting a cub on it's back, and that is certainly possible with over braking, but I've always found it easier to back off my foot pressure rather than forcing my heels through the firewall in an attempt to get stopped!
I love the idea of titanium gear. Would like to have a set of 6" extended, but pricing has gotten stupid! $8,500 for gear, $5300 for shocks and over $10K for 35"s with wheels and brakes???? My bungees, old Atlee gear and beater 35"s are looking pretty good to me. Neither have failed yet and...
Steve - I do not think you find anything better than Dakota Red Tops. I've never used Steve's but have used everything else and I find no comparison. I like really stiff brakes and the Dakota's have always been heads and tails above everything I've used. My new Cub had Matco's and were...
Mains hit the ground, dump the flaps, push stick forward. Kills the lift and will not bounce. Works 100% of the time regardless of what you have bolted on between tires. What am I missing that a person needs to spend $5,200 on shocks? Serious question.
You have to hand to Sean and the folks at Airframes / AK Gear, but I am highly skeptical on this one!!! I have wore the original Bunny (Bata) boots for 50 years and have done just about everything in them, and yes - that too!! The original boot is perfect, so why change it?? Although the...
Alaska Airframes - are they chopped liver now, or just too expensive?
PA-11??? I have a lightweight 180 hp, big black beast of a Super Cub that swings a 90" Catto - defies gravity and climbs like a homesick angel, that you may be interested in???:lol:
70* North Aviation / Mike McCrary owns and used to operate that camp at Happy Valley. He had 1000 gallons there for his 206's & Helio. I believe he is now leasing that place out to another vendor and they may or may not have fuel.
If you have never flown on the North Slope, you should know...
Yep, skip Fairbanks for sure! If you can carry fuel, then dump in some at Cantwell or Healy, then head straight to Bettles. Use to be able to get fuel at Manley Hot Springs too. That's always worth the stop.
I may just to that. I just bought a "screamin mimi" 180hp Super Cub. I have a brand new pair of Scarpa back-country ski boots and skis that have never touched the snow!
It's been a couple years since I've been in the drivers seat. It's been fun getting back into the swing of things.
