‘Speaking of electric winches, I used my 1/2 ton Warn winch recently to suck the gear legs togther to allow me to pull one shock strut off’
Nice!! I tried that with a ratchet strap……not good enough. Maybe a ‘Duh’ moment for me.
I would avoid the top of the engine. I’ve seen a case where that separated!! It wasn’t designed for that much weight. But the engine mount at the firewall with straps works excellent.
I can’t speak to the Cub Crafters’ seals. But I have an experimental that doesn’t have the elevator spring. So my elevator is always at full down travel. When the gap seals were installed, it acts like there is a spring present, and the elevator sits just below neutral without pressure. I feel...
Avoid installing overhead (in my case) measured Co2 level with meter hanging around my neck, spiked with turtle deck vent open. I assume drawing gas into cabin and exiting out the roof (low pressure area)
Hadn’t thought about this, but makes sense.
Anybody have any great new vents they wish to share. How about placement suggestions. The Boss in the rear seat has had enough summer. She is making some demands that I can’t yet comply with. I’m a little reluctant to just cut holes. Currently have two 2-1/8 vents in the side window where it...
I noticed the friction from the seals. Mainly at full travel, but it’s there. They definitely made a difference on my plane. Couldn’t say on the upper end - but for sure on the lower.
I couldn’t wait for my ‘formable funnel’ to get here. So I used heavy duty aluminum foil and made an oil drain path. Worked good - and I felt like I was closer to barbecuing. Win - win!!
“What is your process for leak testing?“
Since your tank is out it should be straight forward. Use plastic plugs for all fittings (or some means of plugging them), and use a shop vac to pressurize the fill opening. Keep pressure under a couple of psi. Soap bottle spray to look for bubbles. It’s...
I’m sure the right kind of print shop would be able to make these. We have one the wife uses for banners for the local booster club. I can’t say what they’re capable of size wise, but they would be plenty big on a hangar wall. If someone has more particulars, I would check! And by someone - I...
I also was gifted one for a project. And although they seem to put out plenty of heat, you still require electricity. As to heating the plane, I haven’t tried that.
Took my then 3 month old daughter for her first flight. Wife and I had gotten up early to go look for elk. Had no communication until we landed (after the airspace had closed). We got caught up shortly after landing.
I’m still not convinced you don’t have an airflow issue. Based on your videos, I hear your issue mostly with airspeed. It’s not super specific to what speed, but appears around 80. Everything you’ve done shows it disappears when you slow. Have you varied your engine rpm’s on video with out...
Hate to be the guy that points out the exact same problem on full up travel, depending on passenger, but a reality. A favorite phrase ‘suck it in’ seems to help, and they’re usually very quiet too trying to hold their breath.
