I just had the time to finish this up and it worked great, it is very clean and very light weight, I removed the wires on the garmin harness and soldered my wires from the USB port right to the garmin circuit board. along with an inline circuit breaker.

I current have 1 12v out let and would like to add two USB ports so i can charge multiple devices at once, and keep the 12v available for the portable GPS all the time.
