I have my fathers Log Book and Diary from WW2, he flew B-26's in Europe. I look at it at least weekly, regret not going over it with him day by day.
My log is sparse, ought to do better.
In my J-3 the only place I can put one is in the front seat, strapped securely to the seat back. But, the bag interferes with the rudder pedals with my size 12 shoes. If I am flying with a SC guy I can shame them into carrying the bag for me. Next time I will try to prop it up on the seat higher...
My engine cover for my J-3 is a pile of old sleeping bags and blankets that hang to the ground with an electric heater underneath. One of these days I am going to have one sewn up. It will be the size of a circus tent.
Had mine a few weeks ago. Piece of cake. Follow-up appointment tomorrow. I guess they sent a few things to the Path Lab, but Dr. told my wife post procedure that it was nothing to worry about. But I hope I will rest better after tomorrow's appointment. Ran into a "kid" 20+ years my junior at the...
Booked one thanks to Chris and Randy. When the nurse asked where I wanted it scheduled I used the line I stole from this thread (I think): I want to be knocked out like a Grizzly getting a radio collar. She hadn't heard that before. Last one was too many years ago. I knew the anesthesiologist...
Flew from WV59 in a J-3 to New Holstein with that damn Thermorest, top of the line, biggest sleeping pad they made shifting over my shoulder ever few minutes. What a PITA! But, when I got there, slept like a baby.
It has been fun owning and flying two Cubs, My 41 J-3 and 41 J-5. I even had three Cubs last fall before I sold my 46 J-3 back to its former owner. But, I can only fly them one at a time and my youngest is finishing up her helicopter IP, so funds go elsewhere.
The J-5 was a show stopper at...
I like to use my com to tune into fingers and talk with my buddies. I have not talked to a tower in more than 20 years. I will have to talk to tower at RDG for WW2 weekend unless my buddy just calls in from his Stearman for a flight of two. My buddy is a full time commercial pilot. When he is...
Bob, I have the GTR 200 in my J-5. Looks nice and lights up. I have never flown it into a towered airport. Call out on Unicom from time to time and people seem to hear me.
I saw a documentary on D-Day which had film of Churchill visiting Normandy in a captured Storch. He looked like a novice getting out of a Cub.
