    Traveling through Canada

For any trans border flight into or from Canada, an ICAO flight plan is mandatory.... So, you'll need one to come into Canada and one to leave Canada for Alaska. The legs made between borders can be done using flight notifications.

    Whipline 2100 amphibs

Same setup, same problem.. My SC had the old Scott brake system and it was almost s if I did'nt have any brakes, could not throttle up to 2700 for mag check without A/C moving on me. Installed Steeve's Brake Boosters, it is not the same machine anymore, much more effective...

    Thrustline Cowling Modification

Can only provide post mod picture. You can clearly see the 2 mounts to which the engine mount attaches to. Also, by zooming the picture, you can see the short channel extension attaching to the firewall. Karl

    airframe blasting

Just my 2 cents... Not that I'm very experienced, only blasted 2 fuselages. One of the older mechanics at our field suggested I use ''glass Bead Blasting material'' for my first fuselage, a Maule. According to him especially with my experience level, the sand media can wear through a tube real...

    Thrustline Cowling Modification

Yes Denny, I did use the short ones included with the kit Mark sent me. Come to think of it, it is a mod but I was thinking more in the line of sheet metal. He also sent me the full length ones, but I haven't taken the time to install them yet. Karl

    Thrustline Cowling Modification

I did not do any mod to the cowlings after installing the Thrustline Mod kit. I don't think it looks all that bad. Karl

Where to get a Firmin Pod/Alaska Bush Pod

OK thanks for the quick reply. If that is the case, I have the newer version... That being said, I've only removed the Pod once last year to install new brake system on my Cub. This thing is so handy when you get used to it, you wonder how you got along with all your gear before getting it...

Where to get a Firmin Pod/Alaska Bush Pod

Somebody mentioned ''the newer model''. I suppose it means relatively new, like in the last 1 or 2 years. Would someone familiar explain the difference, since I must have the standard (original) one?? Thanks.

    Parking brakes???

Thank you gentlemen for your input. Even though they have never seen any use, they'll probably end up staying. Who knows,,,, maybe one day.... I put in Steeve's Brake Boosters, and the angle at which the PB valves are installed for the rod to clear the fluid reservoir bugs me a bit. I'm sure...

    Plug for Steve's Vented Brakes

Went for a ride with the Cub last Friday, mostly to try out my new brake boosters from Steeve's, what a difference.... As someone stated above, money well spent. Wish I had done it a few years ago, it's night and day compared to the old system. Karl

    Plug for Steve's Vented Brakes

Well, on amphibs it is not exactly a tail dragger, is it.... The guy was just trying to turn an uncomfortable situation, mine, into something kind of acceptable/funny for everyone.... Karl

    Plug for Steve's Vented Brakes

Coming back to Sept-Iles from a 3 days fishing trip last summer. FSS asked me to make it tight, 2 Dash 8 were taxiing for Take off. Landed after my tight pattern, applied brakes and SC starts veering to the left....... You guessed it, right brake had run out of oil,,,,, again.. With throttle...
