Well I think the real problem is being over looked, nobody should own two C180's its just not right, if you would give me the problem plane, your fuel problem would go away.
I thought about that, but the fabric is also close to the surface and if the air movement can over come the yarn lifting so should it do the same to the fabric.
My farmers mind is confused, if there is suction on top of the wing causing the fabric to be pulled up, then why does the strips of yarn that get taped to the top of the wings not stand up rather then laying flat??

Results show the Claw has almost twice the holding power of the Fly Ties, and the screw ins hold better yet, though I would think that screw ins would have some use problems in rocky soils. What would be the opinions of those who have used the Fly Ties and Claw.
well I was taught different, at sea level that might be acceptable, dont know what your field elevation is but add couple 1000 ft of density altitude and you could easly be at 5000 ft that requires leaning, in my opinion your AME is wrong.
I been using solvent on the belly of my planes for years for removing the oil, guess its the farmer in me that says works on every thing else why not the plane.
On my 56 182 somewhere I bought two brace arms that come down off the carb and out towards the front of the air box takes all the stress off the thin aluminium
