I sure enjoyed this thread. I purchased 1/3 of a U206 E model in 1983. I was low time pilot, but had a ride with a buddy in his out to Colorado for a dirt bike ride. Two dirt bikes in the back (had to take the front wheels off) and the normal 15 hour drive was an eye opening and enjoyable 4.5...
Great news and great story Steve. Planes are very personal to me, so it is something to let an old friend go because you have an even better one available that you know well. I have been able to sell only one plane and that was because I promised the seller he could buy it back anytime he wanted...
Reading the other post about Young Eagles made me think about the age reported in my post. I have been successful in figuring out the time that something happened in the past. I figure out about how much time has passed since the event then multiply by 2. Getting much closer now. So I suspect I...
There was a group of kids lined up for rides at our airport. Not sure of their affiliation, but ranged in age from about 7 to 14 I would guess. Was helping out giving rides in my Pa-18. My third ride was a tiny girl, maybe 7 or 8. COuld just barley look out the window of the back seat. My route...
I had a passenger say his left foot was hot and wet. Either he somehow hit the oil cap and it opened or it wasn't fully closed. Quite the mess. He still wears the stained shoes when he flies with me. To remind one of us to check the oil cap I guess.
yes, captures the front wheel. On my 2100A I need to have the wheel turned rearward to clear the tug. They have changed the tugs a bit over the years. Mine is 3 years old. I have landed mY amphib cub on grass strips occasionally. A lot more stress on the the front end (even laterally) I believe...
I was skeptical when my friend wanted me to buy an AC Technology remote tug(mentioned above). At the ALaska airmans show I mentioned to the salesman that i would be interested if it could move an amphib. Just then the video showed the tug moving a 206 amphib. I bought one and it really works...
Now that is funny Gordon. You apparently know the area! And thanks to Bob for handling the situation in such a responsible manner. I don’t think I have that gene.
I guess I will have to come to my own defense! Lightly loaded I tend to fly my 206 like my cub. Asked for a short approach the other day as the controller had a touch and go departure follow me and I was 3 miles out. I wanted to keep it short so the touch and go student wouldn't have to go out...
I met Dale at Steve Pierce's and the crab fest. Every time I bumped into him, at the Airman's show, in Anchorage, he always remembered my name, had his great welcoming smile, and time for conversation. This really hurts. Tailwinds Dale and prayers and thoughts to his family

Best advice I have received for bleeding brakes was from Mark Englerth (Thrustline Mark). I have parking brakes (that I rarely use). Mark said push the brake pedal to the position that you want the brake to engage, set the parking brake, remove the cap and fill to the top with fluid. Replace...
I wonder how the camguard folks figure their additive package works (combines?) with engine oil. Or is that a different set of additives than the ones that stratify from old oil. I thought the Phillups oil had low amounts of additives so combined with Cam guard it became a superior package. I...
Bob,
My 296 usually takes a long time to find satellites and has a bad date. I just hit menu and select auto locate. That does the trick. I suspect that the small battery is dead (see above). If you want to open one up and see if we can replace it I am up for it!

Mine yesterday as well. Every year SJ seems to out do himself. Don't know where he finds the time. Sure do appreciate all he (and everyone on the site) does. Thanks to you all.

Jason,
I would like to see that sheet also. The tips of my seaplane prop and getting worn and I wonder now much longer I have before replacement.
Thanks,
Gary
I was over at Robby Groves place last week (El Cajon, California). He helped me out on a probalem I was having on a cleveland issue. Great guy, great products and Great Company. He mentioned he was going to display at the Airmans show this weekend. Good chance for those attending to meet him and...
My Two impulse cub starts much easier, hot and cold, than my one impulse cub. Also, I don't have to worry about making sure I start on the one mag to avoid a kickback. Only problem I have is the tight fit on the right mag with an impulse coupling.
