Motor setup is good to position the plane on the fishing spot. Also great when you want to move away from the shore or rocks, before starting the real engine. Way better and stronger then a man with an oar...
But the airplane wants of course to naturally weather vane into the wind...
Last winter project:
I have fabricated a "clamp on" bracket for a boat trolling motor quick attach base plate.
From the hand drawing to the powder coat, everything was done the old school way in my garage.
Dan, I hear your pain. Your wife and you make a good team. I'm sure it will look even better the second time.
I might hire you for my next covering job ;)
How did you remove the blue Stewart glue before re-covering?
What are your thoughts about the the AirTech glue compare to the Stewart...
Awesome build. You are a very talented builder. A lot of things in front of that firewall.
I suggest cutting all to zip tip tails with a flush cutter.
And changing those exhaust bracket steel clamps for shorter ones.
Those can do some unwanted skin cuts.
Do you have reinforcement...
I have also received my propeller with the wrong hub…
Sterna sent me another one for my O-360 C4P with 1/2 bolt hole.
I had to oversize the supplied spinner back-plate holes, easy fix.
Here is the hub for O-360 with 1/2 bolts:
2-SAE2B-SH-DI
20E-02A and 20E-02B
I had to buy some...
Quick attach canoe rack design is almost done. A few things to do, welding, and paint will be done later.
I will try flying the 12' pointed canoe first, and then the 12' transom one, maybe...
Your math is wrong. 33 lbs more from your numbers.
Lightweight performing propeller and starter are a must with any of those engines..
You could also do all those mods to the 320 to have the +-40 lbs reduction?
Then you massage the 320 to have 165+hp? Would be about the same weight per hp...
Just watched a video. I think you need to loosened the 8 bolts, adjust the pitch, then re-tork the 8 bolts.
But this Catto GA prop now has different shape and curved tips:
Why does this fuselage does not have any dogleg modification for the big baggage door? Experimental I assume
Anybody has some info about the following picture?
(can't remember where I found that pic)
If I was to built again, I go with a Super Cub fuselage but bigger doors, biggest cargo door to a flat floor, deep chord flaps and ailerons, 200+ hp and constant speed ready.
From the internet:
Next project is to build a rapid Canoe rack that could maybe serve has a Moose Quarters rack...
I've bought 2 old 12' Sportspal canoes.
Canoes being 38" wide, I need extend the lower part of the rack:
I've been hauling a 10' PortaBote this season. Boat is great, but folding and loading in a pain in the a$$. And the seats need to go into the airplane.
I'm looking to haul a 10-12 feet square back canoe and small 4 stroke engine for short round trip, from a paved runway to a lake...
