Marion harrasses a beaver with a boat.

As a former prosecutor, I think I have to explain the process. When I was in misdemeanor court, I had to deal with 1500 cases a year. Due to the nature of trial prep, witness, scheduling, holidays etc., it was hard to try more than 26 jury trials. Felony court, with murder, rapes, robberies...

    Completed Javron Super Cub

On the O-340, the redline is 245 degrees, but the manual says target 180 degrees.

    Completed Javron Super Cub

My O-340 is running at 205 at cruise as well, but I can get it back to 195 or so at 2050 rpm. I have been concerned about 200 plus temps, but I don't know if it is a recent phenomenon or something I just missed. I misplaced the USB adapter for my engine monitor, so I am waiting for JPI to send...

CubCrafters Testing Electric Lift Slats for Increased Wing Lift

I wonder if they investigated reversing the fans on the ground as a lift dump feature on touchdown?

Mooresville NC around Lake Norman good place for flying?

When my daughter was at Davidson College (near Mooreville), I flew into Concorde and into Salisbury, NC. Salisbury was a cool little airport with available hangars and a vibe. Concorde has half of the NASCAR air force based there. Great flying in the area. I liked Davidson, NC-great town...

    Gravel Deflectors

We have the Aerotwin gravel kit on the nosewheel of our Caravan. The airplane has been operated out of a caliche strip regularly for over 23 years, about half with the gravel kit. The prop has done much better once we installed the gravel kit. We still get erosion on the blade leading edges...

    Tac Aero

Wind in Texas? Never. Always calm, sunny, and 75 degrees. * *except for months with an "r" in them and months without an "r" in them.

    Tac Aero

I understood why they moved to Texas. You shouldn't have to wait to die before going to heaven. I was just curious on the quality of instruction. New(ish) tailwheel airplanes getting beat up by students probably explains a lot of the expense.

First trip to AK, ArriveCAN question

I fly into Calgary earlier this month from the lower 48. Apparently I didn't do ArriveCan correctly the first time (and was told so when I called CanPass to give notice of arrival the day before). I was able to fix the issue before the flight, but I can't remember what the issue was. When we...

    Legend Cub Vs Super Cub

Did the X-brace on the top keep the cockpit from collapsing? If so, this is a good advertisement for the mod. Also, the airplane ended up with the right side door on top for egress. Had it gone the other way, they would have been thankful for the left side door. I have wondered how hard it...

    How old is everyone?

At age 52, I still use a paper log book. I bet I haven't missed logging more than a flight or two in 35 years (and I log all of my landings). I had multiple "rolling over the odometer" moments in my last two logbook page. I passed 4,000 hours tt, 2,000 hours turbine time, and 1,000 hours...

    Thorns in tires?

Monday morning, I was landing on my ranch strip in South Texas and I sure did decelerate rapidly (with a little swerve to the right). My right main tire was totally flat. I have aero-classic tundra tires on a Super Legend Cub. Fortunately, I had a spare tube. I gooped the tire, flew to...

What's the problem with a changed N number?

I have changed a N number on a 210 and kept an N number on a PA-14. Here is my thinking-on old airplanes, the N number is part of the history of the airframe and should be kept. On a generic traveling plane, do whatever you want.

    New exhaust wrecks FX-3?

Is the accident rate due to the aircraft (which I doubt) or the pilot population that buys them? This reminds me of the forked tail doctor killer and then the Cirrus. Good airplanes, but highly motivated and successful owners who maybe don't have the time to get truly proficient. Steve...

Young Eagles and Boy Scouts...No Two Place Aircraft!

My son just "aged out" of scouting at age 18. The Boy Scouts have a strict rule that no adult and can be alone with a scout (except for parent/child). It is a good policy that sometimes makes for logistic headaches.

    Selling an experimental/liability

My hangar partner (A&P) rebuilt a Beech Duke from two wrecked airframes. He has significant assets from his other career as an eye surgeon. When it came time to sell, he decided to donate the airframe to the local community college A&P program. He felt like too big of a target. Also, Dukes...

Welcome to the Legend Cub Folder

I stopped in Lockhart yesterday for a bbq lunch on my way to south Texas from Fort Worth. I met one guy who is buying a brand new stripped down AL3 and another guy who an AL3 (which was totaled buy his instructor with another student). This was the most Legend Cub talk I’ve had in awhile.
