Not so waterproof when they take a little damage in an ohoh moment. To each their own, but I have been in enough situations that relying on 1 device can be a bad gamble. With the money we spend on the toys and using them, an inreach, plb or some sort of back up device is pennies and the weight...
The guy that went through the ice this spring with is kids on board spent way more time sitting on the wing damn near freezing to death because his phone got wet and was useless. I wouldn't ditch the spot or inreach as its pretty cheap back up and takes a bit more abuse than the iphone will...
I have used a short rope through the loop and driven the duckbill in so that only the rope is above ground. When you leave, cut the rope at ground level and all is good.
until I tested and tested and tested various props, I would have never believed that taking a little off the end could allow so much more pitch to be added. Guy I know built matching planes for him and his wife, he put an older borer prop on his wife's plane and a new one on his. She kicked...
The bags say not for hauling fuel for liability reasons, I am sure. We all haul fuel in them, and I have not had them leak when going from sea level to 8k. I don't use the bags for long term storage, maybe a day or two at the most. When I get where I am going, I dump them in the wings or...
At work its -12 and blowing 27 (Kuparuk). Home in Soldotna is showing 25 above but as usual, temps are predicted to get into the negatives when I go home Thursday.
the good ol boy network up here seems to come up with creative ways to cover incidents when those involved are L.E. How many cubs have they wiped out in the last hand full of years? Pretty sure that brings it to 5 or 6 and those "incidents" seem to disappear REALLY fast from any public media.
If a CS on a 150-160 cub was truly a performance boost, especially when heavy, EVERY SINGLE working cub would have one on it. That is simply not the case though.
I watched the vid posted by Juan Browne and it shows overhead shots of the event with the damaged aircraft. Why the bad word is everyone parked so close to the edge of the runway, when the pics show LOTS of room to get the planes closer to the trees in most areas and not lined up along the VERY...
I did too. Buddy had posted it on his page, but I guess he knew the OP and the OP sent him a text about it and then he posted the screen shot of it confirming it was fake. I thought the guy was the luckiest pilot ever for a bit till I saw it was a fake. Unless the guy I know faked the fake...
I got a rear sealed strut from Stoddards (this it was a univair strut) that had a small fork, but it was a sealed strut with bushing on the wing end.
I didn't catch it till I had painted it and took it out to the plane to do the swap.
only 1 showed up due to weather. I know more that were headed there and had to turn around due to the weather.
Still cracks me up that a 172 kicks the crap out of just about every other plane that shows up there including highly modified experimental birds.
The lack of wind at Valdez this...
I use exclusive mogas and have been for years. I have the blue gaskets and have never had an issue. I don't ever top off the tanks to the point that the neck is full though, I stop at the bottom of the neck.
