Photo ID for Ramp Check etc.

Getting on a plane in Montana a while back did not require a real ID. I flew to AZ and when trying to board for home I almost did not make the plane because it was required in AZ. You never know when one will be required which could suddenly become very inconvenient.

    #3 CHT Running Hot

Topped my 0-320 B2B with Lycon ported and polished cylinders. Went to break in using the -32 carb and CHTs were 425 and EGTs 1425. Went back to the barn quickly. Got to thinking about it and there is significantly more air flowing through the engine now. Called Lycon and they recommended the...

    Acme black ops

I think it took me 3 months to get my shocks. After they build them to your specks they send them to some place in Oregon to get some sort of stamp of approval and then they come to you. Be patient it is worth the wait.

Fuel selector changes can be included in engine upgrade STC's. If you had an engine change check there.

How to get in a Cub if you are short.

I keep a collection of videos where I tell people how to get in and instruct them to follow directions exactly and then video the results, it is quite funny

    Acme black ops

Field report here. Just installed them on my cub. They are sweet. Can drop the plane from 3 feet with no bounce and soft landing. Rough grass strips feel like your on blacktop. No rattle in the gear anymore. Definitely worth it.

    Cowboys and Cubs

Once upon a time I was out hunting coyotes in the middle of the night with all the night vision crap. I was hunting alone and I have to say hunting alone at night your mind starts to mess with you. Well, I am seeing a couple lights moving back and forth out there at 1am and I get to thinking I...

    Chinese Balloon

Yesterday was an interesting day. Unfortunately I was working. First I heard they closed down the KBIL airspace due to a UFO. Then the picture came out of the balloon taken by a friend of mine. Then the texts start rolling in that I should stop taking care of patients in the name of national...

    Short Approach

Sorry Hank just gotta say Kali Angeles. Is the city airport still alive. One of the nicest places I have visited. OK I think we should stop diverting this thread and start a new one. How about the "The New Montana ".

    Short Approach

Now, now Mike those are some fighting words right there. After seeing that line of planes I was going to throw out the Boz Angeles word but I showed polite restraint. Can't understand why the papers every year publish an article about BZN and how much SLF (self-loading freight) they have...

    Short Approach

I am located in Billings a class C deal. I almost always land with a short approach and long landing. Someone once told me the fast movers pretty much own the extended centerline including about 30 degrees right or left so I try to show up out of that zone. My short approach tends to enter...

    RAF strip - Schafer Wilderness

Flew in there once in early September. Had to wait for the frost to melt off the next day. Got back to Billings and it was 100 degrees.

    Current O-320 Cylinder Options/Opinions

Topped my O320 B2B last fall and plane power only had in stock continental produced cylinders for my lycoming engine. They said it was 12 to 18 month backorder for lycoming produced cylinders. I took the continental produced ones. Plane Power said there where no cylinders available made by...
