I put a marine tracking app on my phone to identify ships I see when out flying in the puget sound area.

Seems to work OK, except navy subs don't seem to show up.
But that might be the case with all of the...
I'd like to post a "registration reminder" for everyone...
I look up airplane registrations fairly often (nosy, I guess),
and I often see an address but instead of a name I see "sale reported", under owner
This often means that the airplane has been sold and the seller sent in the "I sold it"...
I use cans to fuel my 180, 5.5 gallons fits into my 5 gallon cans.
So about a half hour of flight per can.
With the weight of the (plastic) can, they're about 35 pounds, not a problem.
I was fueling my airplane with them within a week after hernia surgery -- "don't lift over 5 pounds", yeah...
What year 180, or more specifically what year original paint scheme?
The 54/55 scheme is quite popular, even for other year 180's.
I know of one that had the base coat red, with the trim black.
Looked good, but IMHO would have looked better with more standard coloring...
such as white or silver...
We had a gal at my airport years ago that had trouble reaching the pedals on her cherokee.
She solved the problem by wearing sneakers that had sort of a platform sole.
Dunno how well that would work out in a taildragger which might require some vigorous rudder action.
I thought the youtube that tempdoug posted was pretty informative.
Yes, he's hypothesizing why the flexjet pilot was doing what he did, but it made sense to me.
Very helpful that he showed the airplane taxiing, and had the ATC tape playing.
A couple years ago, I got talked into having a hearing test done.
My hearing was pretty good--in all the frequencies that didn't matter.
But poor in the voice frequencies.
I ended up buying a set of top end in-the-ear devices from a top end place--$5800 for the pair.
My health plan paid $4K of...
I disagree.
If it wasn't notated as being specific to one particular airplane,
someone who buys the STC could photocopy the paperwork & give it to all his buddies.
So IMHO that's a legit reason to make it specific.
I had to get some paperwork from an stc holder a few years ago--
the stc had...
Re the vented cessna caps (on a cessna)....
if the caps are vented, why does the airplane need a separate fuel tank vent?
I imagine it's because the tiny vent hole on the caps can't flow enough air to displace the fuel being burned..
but if that's the case, why bother with the vented caps at...
