Just much less drag. They were testing for fuel efficiency. With the dimples was dramatically more efficient. So I'm guessing faster would probably come along with that - but they tested both ways at the same speed.

Mythbusters did a thing on what they called "golf ball car" where they tested a car without and then with golf ball type dimples. The effect on drag was shocking. Really interesting. Those little dimples make a big difference
