Nice 1954 L21 SuperCub, Former Greek AirForce. Returned to US and ground up rebuild in 2002. 1017 hrs since rebuild. Lots of Modifications.. Scott 3200 TW, Dodge 3"Extended Gear, Clevelands, 31"Bushwheels, Dodge Safety Cables, O-320 160hp (TT 3914 SMOH 1352 STOH 649), Borer Prop, GW increase...
Thanks for the input.. I have no experience with "highly modified" airplanes.. I know Dakota Cub, a friend has a Kit sitting in his hangar, he might build it someday..
My biggest question, is this an airplane "built around a Data plate" ie "Certified".. or is it Experimental.?
This thing is taking on a life of it's own... I found that a former owner .. did a "field drill" for the clamps and they are way off 'centered".. i had the holes filled (welded) and will re-drill the holes for the clamps.. talk about a pain.. anybody wanna buy a SuperCub..?
Thanks for the advice guys!! Got new clamps on the way and will get the muffler drilled.
Probably a dumb question but, anybody know what the distance between the two stacks where the Muffler goes should be? I feel like my distance is too large.. I've had a lot of exhaust issues in the years...
Just got a new Atlee Dodge Heavy Duty Muffler for my SuperCub 160. When it arrived i noticed that it did not have the holes for the standard "pin" clamps. My pipes, of course have the holes and I'm curious what type clamp to use and should I fill the holes in the pipes somehow?
I'm on my 2nd L21 and I love the extra visibility!! I do have the smoked roof but have never thought it was too HOT.. The pluses, I think, far out way any possible negatives..
Did the CC STC on our L21 back in 2016 when we went to 160hp. Wouldn't have done it with out adding the fuel port in the right tank.. I actually thought it was required by the STC.
I like the BOTH position and use it 100% of the time. I know how long I can stay airborne and am very conservative...
Need to replace these things.. Looks like a real pain trying to do them with the unit installed.. appears if I remove the Park Brake unit it might be a bit easier..
Saw an old post were Bob Turner said he could do it in 15 minutes.... ???
Any suggestions, greatly appreciated!!
Thanks Kieth! Perham would be great, my brother is on Rose lake just a bit north west.. I have a place to stay on Bemidji too and Park Rapids not far from DL..
I'll be working at Oshkosh this Thursday until we fly the airplanes out Aug 1st.. I'll try to get something worked out and if I get up...
Thanks folks, appreciate the input.. I can do it here in Michigan but thought it would be great fun while I visit my Mom (92) in DL and my Brother in Vergas.. I'll touch base with the recommendations!!
Open to all ideas!! Thanks!!
Wondering if any one knows of a Float Rating School in the Detroit Lakes area.. Like to go up, spend time with family, and get a Float Rating in
a Super Cub or whatever is available..
Not relevant to go on a national forum and ask "what's it worth".. Prices vary based on location.. the only way to know what it's worth is to survey the locals..
My Hangar, about the same size.. is worth between $40K and $140K depending where it was in a 50 mile radius...
