I have an Oretex test kit here somewhere…I’ll glue and shrink it to a frame, put 303 on and set it out in the sun for a bit.
Yeah Oz, I am impressed with 303s UV blocking properties but have never tried it on aircraft fabric topcoats. Mostly used on Royalex canoes and hypalon inflatable boats, works well on tires also...
Hey Oz, where are you seeing that 303 contains silicone?
Likewise, people ask, does 303 Aerospace Protectant contain silicone?
Unlike many products, 303 Aerospace Protectant does not contain...
The lightweight 160hp cub is the way to go...
I carry a gun every time I’m flying a plane. You as the pic are responsible for the well being of your passengers. Where I fly, if you happen to have to put the plane down off airport, the first...
Must not be much of a job, if, you have to hire new pilots every year…
Check your tach first. You can flatten the pitch on your existing prop. Or do what Steve suggest...start with the least expensive...
“As with all 6" gear topics, the folks who talk down on 6" gear have never flown a set in real-world conditions”
Atlee didn’t like the geometry on the 6” gear, he would try to talk you out of...
You will have a much slower roll rate than stock. You will also work harder in a crosswind...there are also other issues...depending on engine and tail feather size...
You have gar-aeros and only a couple inches of snow? No sweat, go flying.
Thanks OZ! Good stuff…
The biggest problem with the Piper intrusion is keeping it straight. The round tubing will resist rolling over. The tall intrusion not so much. The small intrusion structurally is weak and tends to...
The big I beam is not bad, but still a little floppy. The small I beam is a joke. The thick walled 6061T6 is the strongest and straightest.
Hey Oz or Steve, why couldn’t you replace the Piper aluminum stringers with 6061T6 tubing legally, on certified pipers? The 6061 is as strong or stronger and less prone to bending under load....
which of course is why you buy the uncured bacon...
You better have a gallon of water to wash all the salt out...from eating spam and ramen. There is some pretty good tasting and healthy food options these days for survival purposes...why eat dog food?
It is warming up rapidly in Interior Alaska today. A 953 mb Low in the West is taking on a 1050 mb High in the East...
anything Piper printed was for a 1750lb, 150hp - Supercub. Your airplane will need to be flown to figure it out...I would be leery of formulas, more inclined to start flying it lightly loaded first,...
Atlee Dodge
People need to realize that the FAA doesn’t have the resources to make flying safer in Alaska. They talk the talk but don’t walk the walk...They want everyone to fly IFR for safety reasons, but won’t...
I wonder if, instead of waxing Oratex, you used Aerospace 303? Maybe someone has tried this, Lars?
Dodge makes an insert/doubler for the PA18, to prevent that damage from happening...you could manufacture your own for the J-4. Good idea if you are in a high wind area...
I think he meant 140hrs a month...
