I agree with KJC. My plane is a NorthStar, and it doesn’t have the spring assistance on the elevator. It’s heavy all the time while landing, but it still works as designed.
Are you saying you can’t arrest your descent at all? Or that you’ve run out of elevator authority? Cause a three point done right is ‘out of elevator’ also. Just needs to be at 6” height or so. No...
So this isn’t worth the electrons it took to read, but I lean from the second it’s running. I richen it up to do my checks, but the first ‘check’ for me is to re-lean it to rpm drop. Then start my...
As to KevinJ’s point - there is likely to be a diminished test ‘pilot’ pool. Could halt the process all together!
Much like when you show up in court to discuss your ticket the nice officer wrote for driving ’insert your favorite offense’.
Mostly formality because the officer is always right.
Have you tried more av gas? Worked on a felt headliner that I had fuel stains on??
I too use an ‘unofficial’ rwy next to the paved one. A bit different than most - our airport isn’t terribly busy except for a flight school. I spend a lot of time with a shovel. I have a very...
Please do! I’m intrigued with this as I first installed the ASA separator. It helped with the wipe-up, but hasn’t totally eliminated it. (Lyc-0360 that doesn’t like anything above 6 qts).
^^^^^I went to the webpage and then their menu. Look up downloads, and you can get their schematic. Short answer is - yes.
Having zero experience with bears, and wishing to keep it that way, those of you who have: will the sound of a gun going off close range have any effect on them? Such as in an encounter?
Great write up, but very sorry to read it. I for one will learn from it! Hang in there, and thank you for posting! Ken
Ya gotta love a good science report!^^^^^
My experience was exactly as Denny’s! With a SIRS it was no good up high, but lower right of windscreen thumbs up. No where else in cabin worked at all.
Stewartb, here are a couple of pictures of the North Star brakes, hopefully you can see how they attach.
My gripe is some cheap a$$ went with a dirt floor instead of concrete. Man I kick myself for that!!
Thank you very much for the thorough explanation! I’m with you now! My flight instructor had me practice moving the nose in a box formation to get the feel of the plane and to see just what the...
Flagold, you touched on this I think, but it appears the cross-controlled movements are made quickly. Is that correct? And how does one acquire that safely since ground effect is necessary? Forgive...
A buddy of mine uses a set up similar to what eskflyer showed the link to. It’s slightly different, but works quite well. There are options out there, I think his came from the ATV/UTV community.
My favorite mechanic in the big truck world said the proper torque is always a quarter turn before it snaps! It just takes a lot of practice to acquire the feel.
I had that on my Stinson, which had been repaired. Seemed it was the elevator was warped slightly. Sorry I can’t help with the best way to check it. I would lean towards using a laser level though.
Okay, seriously this time! It makes sense that the train operator would throttle up. Granted they don’t stop on a dime, but the last thing one would want is for it to stop in the middle of an inferno...
I beg to differ. When running full tilt away from the accident site it would be hard to hear anything other than your own screaming. Possibly?
^^^^^^ And apparently it could be considered cheating….
I’ll second the separate bill of sale that WhiskeyMike mentioned. Depending on your tax department where you live it may be necessary, and not all states recognize the FAA documents.
