In my opinion the brake line is not an issue. Most covered gear will have the brake line exiting the fabric below the axle and that's just the way it's done. Lots of cubs running around with brake...

That was a good year for Bushwheels. Keep them out of the weather/sun and give them a spritz and wipe down with 303 once a month and they should last 8-10 years on average. I like to park on a sheet...
Agreed; I really like my tailwheel with only 3 as well. Same with 3400 series tailwheels, seems like many setups run too many springs as a way to mask underlying setup issues and tailwheel shimmy.
Just my opinion and aircraft setup but I prefer the short pawl. That's what Scott used throughout production and if it isn't broke don't fix it.
That being said, it depends on the steering arm....
Think about what greases where available when Cleveland first certified their wheel designs. Or when Scott first designed the 3200 tailwheel. It's easy to over-think what grease to use.
Just for point of reference the Airframes 4 place is 42-1/8" wide at the instrument panel/upper longeron. The floor and top deck are 40-1/2". The upper longeron level is brought out slightly to that...
I've never tried it myself but my brother has revived a couple of hard drives by putting them in the refrigerator. They only work halfway decent until the drive warms up again. This is only for...
I have not heard of any Strombergs actually developing an issue with worn throttle shafts. That's mainly a symptom of the Marvel carbs.
Might as well have an Icom handheld around. It's fun to listen to airport chatter when you're working on your plane.
They're also nice to have when you go to the dark side of an uber lightweight...
http://thestrombergspecialist.com/ This guy will rebuild them although he's kind of expensive.
You can get the overhaul manual from Aircraft Spruce and the rebuild parts kit from Fresno Air Parts....
Very true! Although for the paperwork that would be a "negligible weight change". Negligible means they don't weigh anything right?
Nope they do not. Just a simple on/off valve.
I much prefer the Scotts. They have the automatic off whereas the Matco/Grove/store on off valves do not. The simple on/off valves can get flipped on...
I doubt the carb heat on helped it warm up any. The carb heat is pretty ineffectual due to the engines being pretty cool running and either way it would make the air/fuel mixture more rich which...
My cub was painted with a brush outside. Painted right over the bugs stuck on the belly. Looks good from about 30ft if you squint just right.
Now matching the brush stroke pattern when painting...
This ought to be good! Can't wait to see how this thread shapes up!
I really prefer the look of this unit over the AV-30 but somehow it is more than half again more expensive than the certified AV30 and double the price of the experimental AV30. Kind of a hard sell...
Wow, guess we're fortunate up here to have DPE's with some common sense. GA is going to hell with all these stupid regulations. Don't these guys know they're checking pilots out on a piston engine...
National Guard, CAP, Troopers have difficulty finding the plane in 4 days. The guy's buddy drops in and picks him up same day.
They would be late to the party. ACME already has gear out and Airframes is in the final stages of Ti landing gear development.
I agree with Rich. This is like your DPE refusing to do a VFR PPL checkride in a plane without a full IFR panel. If it's not required by regulation then the DPE doesn't have a say as long as the...
That's the biggest upside to a GA prop. Besides the great performance that the Sensenich has, the ability to fine tune one prop to your high compression/port&polish experimental engine that has an...
I've had good luck propping the tail on a sawhorse. Like Denny says you have to get it behind the belly stringer so the only good place is right under the tail spring. I used a moving blanket over...
I could be wrong but I think Javron rates those wings up to 2300lbs gross weight.
Wow, that's a brilliant solution! Never thought to use a guitar pedal to fix or boost cockpit audio.
Now I'm going to have to try a flanger, delay, and some distortion to spice things up in the...
The long and short of it is the Merrill airport management isn't very helpful to the land lease holders and continues to incur costs for poorly managed projects like the road surface...
