As Mike mentioned above, it’s routinely done. Marine radios don’t necessarily access all the marine frequencies - we received some new ones that needed tweaking in order to talk to all our village...
The number of accidents alone isn’t a good indicator of likelihood of an accident. A better indicator would be accidents per hours flown. It wouldn’t surprise me if that statistic showed a much...
Thanks for doing this. Special maps like these are a huge help.
Leigh is a particularly good stick who really understands planes. Someone who spends some time flying with him is bound to come out the better for it.
I’ll be there, too. Looking forward to it. FYI the forecast calls for temps in the 90s. Plan accordingly.
Looks like Fastenal might be a source here in the States. Don’t know if they ship overseas.

GNTW, great looking plane. You must be pleased.
Four of them! How do you keep their arms and legs from dangling down and blocking your vision?
I’ve not flown a PA-12 with an O-235, but I suspect it would be rather underwhelming. But maybe it would be good for practicing energy management! Cue Jim Dulin. :):)
I had an O-320 160 and felt...
I can’t speak for IO360s, but the way to start a balky IO540 is to flood it, then throttle forward, mixture to idle cutoff, and crank it. Once it catches bring the throttle back and mixture forward...
flagold's identity has been revealed. He's really Martha Stewart! :-P:-P:-P
Slightly off topic, but do any of the ADS-B systems have aural traffic alerts? If the two planes that collided near Ketchikan had aural alerting I suspect the accident wouldn’t have happened.
Yikes! Glad it was a miss and not a hit. Having a mid-air is my biggest anxiety.
I found this one in Wisconsin. It’s 93 miles from the Loop

The TVA allows floatplanes on its reservoirs. There are planes based on the lakes, but they are not as numerous as boats.
I’m obliged to put in a plug for Tennessee. You mentioned being the old guy who teaches floats: Tennessee boasts a number of TVA reservoirs in the eastern half, and float operations are permitted. ...
That’s pretty cool. Disassembling it must be a bit like archeology in the sense that you’re discovering things that nobody has seen in a really long time.
Built in ‘52 and parked in ‘60. Do you...
Neat planes, and astonishingly large when you’re standing next to one. They would come into Aniak from time to time, and it was always a nice change to see them.
I’m a big fan of the reds from Norton Sound. Really tasty.

Consider two scenarios. If one makes the “please advise” call, then God and Everybody is prompted to respond. But if you’re planning to stay in the pattern you don’t need to hear from that guy who...
In my book, it's situational, and some cases need different calls than others.
I really like the airport name at the beginning and end when a) it's a goober on the radio, or b) when several...
Is the pig roast still on Wednesday evening?
There’s a jet on a stick at the top of the second frame. And a hangar, too.
