I didn’t put any adhesive or sealant in the bottom of the D channel, I used clear silicone on the outside surface of the window where it contacts the D frame. I taped it off before running the...
The D window frame is formed U channel welded to the frame tubes, you can get them from Univair.
UV kills fabric, not necessarily time. If it has been taken care of and hangared like you say it could be just fine.
I have the Dakota vavle in my Super Cub and I have no complaints. I don’t have any direct experience with Andair valves other than cutting one out of a damaged RV-8, but a good fiend of mine who is...
Where is your CG right now? I would recommend leaving the light weight battery in the original location behind the baggage, otherwise you will likely need ballast in the baggage compartment to...
Thanks Steve, pretty straight forward it looks.
My horizontal stab has a bit of side play but never thought much of it until reading this thread. How exactly are you wrapping and securing the safety wire to ensure it stays in place?
What size do you order?
You can weld pretty much anything on the fuselage of a covered flying Super Cub, depending on where you’re welding will determine how much fabric cutting or disassembly is required.
Also be careful with those flared brass fittings, check them for cracks to make sure they aren’t the source of the leak.
Getting the side panel out is the pain in the ass, you’re almost done already.
The only 18-95 I’ve been around is the one I own, and I am at 978lbs with 2 tanks, lightweight battery, B&C starter, PP alt, AD safety cables, 3200 TW, 72” metal prop, remote oil filter, and 6x7.0...
If you have to put the battery under the front seat the easiest fix is keeping useful ballast in the baggage. Small tool kit, survival kit, a qt. of oil, etc.
When I replaced my boat anchor battery with a lightweight I moved it under the front seat, but I wish I kept it in the original location. It’s too nose heavy now when solo. Still within limits when...
Think I read somewhere on here that you’d need a field approval for airstreaks on PA-18-95, it didn’t make the STC list or something along those lines.
There’s been a few threads in the past asking the same question, most of the responses were to keep it light and simple. I’ve had my C90 PA-18 for a while now and I’d have to agree. I enjoy mine...
I’d be more concerned about adverse effects on the ailerons. If you fabric covered the struts the only effective airfoil would be outboard in front of the ailerons due to the chord created by the...
It’s on an 18.
Interesting that Steve’s feeds faster from the left side while mine feeds faster off the right side. With the exception of the Dakota fuel selector I have a stock fuel system, put in all new lines...
Not a difficult job to switch out fuel selectors, I recently replaced a Univair valve with the Dakota valve that Mike linked to above. With the new Dakota valve in my cub and the selector on both...
A new 6201 will plug and play into your existing 4201 harness. Same thing happened to me last year and that is exactly what I did, although I use the intercom that is built into the unit. I would...
Agreed, that’s what I wear when flying in the warmer months. Better feel and subtle control inputs I think.
You don’t have to cut any fabric to do fuel valve maintenance or replace a valve but it is a bit of a pain to get the left interior panel out. I had my fuel system apart recently for maintenance and...
Found the culprit...a completely clogged header tank vent line. It looked like clay, I guess a bug must have gotten in some how. After draining the entire fuel system I removed the header tank and...
