Hah! I still remember my trig from high school. Sines/cosines of 30, 45, 60 degrees stuck with me. Unit circles were fun.

I just think it’s amazing they put the code on the sign.
At my airport you go through an initiation ritual and take an oath of secrecy.

I ended up not making it. Tried to drive there and hit deep snow at 6000 feet on Lick Creek. Didn’t check because I’ve often gotten over in early June.

No airplane…waiting on maintenance. Can I come by pickup?
1 person, 1 Friday night dinner.

I'm inclined to believe our eyewitness (or ear-witness) on the ground who reports the airliner being two miles from the ridge.
Shudder…. That ridge is 7500 feet at best.

Thanks Bill. Were you reading my mind?
Not really…but the rough patches sometimes seem bigger than they are.

Just from personal recollection, the Bridgers are high and approximately 7-8 miles from the runway. At 200 knots, it's not a lot of room. In the 70s, in crisp VFR, we often saw Frontier enter a left...
Whoa! Miles of flat ground to the West, I've never seen an airliner turn east from BZN.
My takeaway is reinforcing the decision to go around when things get tight. And not push things even in a competition.
And I'm guessing even a Zenith dragging in can produce significant wake...

Edit to add more info. Sad to see the pilot perished.

The thing that haunts me is the right and left elevators jammed in opposite directions. And the torquing of the empennage.
Could a wing separation do that? I have no idea.

Maybe, but when I was growing up in Montana "backcountry" implied a day or more hike from the nearest settlement.
This is something I’ve worried about even before the YouTube explosion.
Low passes at fly-ins always seemed like flirting with regulatory trouble.

Same here. I think I’d want to make friends with the homeowners before landing there. My own personal “straight face” rule would slow me from arguing that this is like back country operations.

More discussion on "congested area."

Practically, probably not because they accomplished the landing.
But I wouldn't say it is out of the realm of possibility. Suppose the glider pilot had a choice between a 500 acre corn field and a...
I agree with this. Don't admit anything.
I don't practice aviation law, but I have years in criminal defense and admin law. Without an admission by Trent, could the FAA have proven it was him...
My EAA STC says the same thing. Even sent a little jug with instructions on how to test to see if ethanol is in the fuel.
Thanks, Charlie. I'm going to save all these links. I could not find anything remotely local.
Looks like airpartsinc has it in stock. Good price too. Thanks.
Quick update. Wag aero just called and said no 4130 tubing available. Same for Wicks.
Supply chain troubles.
Plugging along on impulse power and waiting for more tubing. I thought I'd have some 1/2" chrome moly laying around to finish the N-brace, but not long enough. I also thought about splicing--no, I...
What you said is correct as I read the EAA forums. Saves in the cloud. Only other 3d users can access. I was just starting to get a feel for it 9 months ago. Not going that route now.
Don't want to derail, but EAA discontinued the Solidworks benefit. Now you are left with "3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers" at a discounted subscription. From what I've seen, it won't be as useful...
