Hi RV
Well those sure are cleaned up nice! I didn't think to look there since these are 1945 drawings
A friend at my local airport brought back a Champ and 2 Ercoupes from Canada ....... over the last couple of years. All had current Canadian registrations. He used the FAA and not a DAR. It took a...
Crash
I have them as .tif files so couldn't upload here but tried to convert them. They were rolled from round tubes to these dimensions and prints don't show original sizes. Cross sectional...
Dan
Your stock J3 rear strut has less than .150 square inch in cross section (rolled from a 1 1/2" x .035 mild steel tube) and the 6061 aluminum cross section of the rear is .440 sq. in. The stock...
Below is picture of the CC eyebolts design that have failed.54840[/QUOTE]
No compression sleeve to take up space inside strut when torqued down?......................................
I use the Hat sections that AC Spruce sells. It's the same as what is on the top/center of Pacer/Tri Pacer fuselage. Light weight and strong. Wood just almost never holds its shape.
No, '41 J3 rebuild just before cover

But there are ways to mitigate that.............................................
I recently received some struts from Airframes Alaska and they were in 6" corrugated plastic drainage pipes with plywood ends. Good idea, I kept them to ship my strut extrusions out! Gotta shop...

Didn't really mistype just mind was on Super Cub not Cruiser. But you're right on the 12, with 23" in the front and 21 1/2" in the rear from the HRL for the mount positioning centerline....
No not yet.............. Sold shop on local airport, moved and building up a shop/hangar across street from my house. Plus a little "life" got in the way. I have been working on it tho, spoiler...
Ahh
Super Cruiser and not Super Cub. Experimental? 2+2?
If you have rust on the inside of a valve cover I would have to go look at the cam next. I have never seen a corroded cam that didn't have some corrosion on the inside the covers and also some on the...
Ken
I'm guessing since you are on this site its a SC build. If so, the front and rear fittings are parallel with each other with rear 1 1/2" below centerline of the front. The spars are both...
Re arch the springs.......................
Google Funk aircraft and you'll see the likeness...............
Those look more like what we used to call "Funk" style. I have put them on clip wing Cubs before. Are those fiberglass or aluminum?
What we always called the "peanut" pant was more of a fender than a pant, open on the sides. ........... but kept the cow $hit off the bottom of the wing. Is that what you are trying to install?...
Philly
These are the pants that have the step on the top not the "peanut" version. No brackets but they would not be too hard to make.......... flat plate that clamps around the gear. These pants...
Do you need a pair of original pants for that 12? They are not pristine but are nice original............ a little work would make them pristine. They are the nicest "originals" I have ever seen....
Vic
I can relate to what you are up against, been there, a little different, but been there .............. The project will still be there when the time comes
You might tack weld in some temporary diagonal supports from the lower longerons, (or uppers since you haven't cut them out yet), to the tubes between the attach points to hold assembly in place...
I still have this old Lincoln, was my dad's from the 60's. Still runs great................... Talk about heavy!
