I third the I wish I still had my front oil cooler group.
Try starting on just the left mag, or whatever mag has the impulse coupler. I can’t start mine with both mags hot when it’s cold.
I was flying BE18’s when the David Clark H13X came out. They seemed able to keep up with 2 985s with short stacks. They weren’t very comfortable by todays standards though.
I still have them….but...
I’ll take them, I guess I’m number 2, story of my life.

Is the pouch with the radio in it big enough to hold a water bottle?
They got rid of the firearm requirements when Canada started charging to carry a rifle through their country.
Dakota Cub fuel valve is a piece of art
When I’m down in the lower 48, I trade my 44 for a 357. I’m more scared of the weirdos and mountain lions than bears.
I’ll be down that way this summer. My brother is flying the Chief down and...

There’s probably a parts place in Redmond you can probably get it. I don’t think I’ve been to Redmond since the 90s though, and I know it’s changed.
I use a Garmin 686 for navigation, and I admit that I still fly with a paper chart also.
The AV30 is strictly for emergency. Like MTV said there were a few times that something like that would have...
I would much rather the AV30 over a dog house for standard turn information. In a small airplane I know 20-25 degrees bank will get me pretty close to a 180 in a minute. It has a ball for...
Been looking at this thread for a couple days. Just took a good look at the panel on one of the first posts.
I would get rid of the T&B and put an AV30 in its hole. It’s got a T&B built into it....
And the nice thing about a bad battery on a Cub….I can always prop it. I won’t do that on a 185 with a 3 bladed prop
All of the sudden owning a hangar in Palmer doesn't seem that bad:-P
I’ve flown standard, 6” and 3” gear….my Cub has 3” gear and a thrust line mod. That’s mainly for the fact I can’t see taxiing with 6” gear and my prop is about the same aoa and clearance as 6” gear.
My wife and I were laughing at the beginning of the video. The pink Flamingos are ours. The Cub is in a hangar in Palmer on wheel skis for the nasty part of the winter. It’ll be next to the...
There are 2 of them on Alaskas list right now…both 1961s I believe.
If you don't have to go far, just lay them down on a snowmobile trailer. You seem them transported quite a bit up here like that.
Buy Steves brake boosters and never worry about constantly topping them off again!
My brother runs trains for the Union Pacific. His favorite is when they go through a flock of sheep. He said it’s like cottton balls.
There’s an old Methow DC3…..I flew for them a short while.
If someone has an extra set of 1.25 torque plates lying around. I’m looking for a set, it’ll make ski changeover a bit easier.
This guy has some great resources and explains quite a bit. I have one on a C85 stroker and have no beef with it. The stroker puts out almost 100hp.

35’s are bought and in the hangar till the snow melts. For now it’s 8.00-6’s with skis.
There ain’t no way I’d land those or 8.50s in quite a few places I regular. Swamp and deep sand I’d be on my...
