Got my CFII first also. At the time the initial CFI had to be done with the FSDO. Since the double I ride is more straight forward (fewer opportunities to screw up);I did that first then added on...

I fly in and out of 23N Bayport Aerodrome on Long Island. Learned to fly there in 1967 and instructed there in 2000 and a few years after. When landing 36 there is a house within 300 feet or...
Actually this guy Andy used to shoot arrows too, but never hit anything. We would find them on the field once in a while. Again, never had any proof but we were pretty sure.
This event made the ABC national news. A similar thing happened when I was instructing at Bayport on LI. There was a guy taking shots with a pellet gun. I think he hit my J3 once but couldn’t be...
Good explanation of the modifications done to the airplanes.

This looks like this one is coming back as pots and pans as my old flight school boss used to say.
Sounds like at least one more revocation coming. News says FAA denied a waiver to do this. Not sure what FAR they wanted to waive but you can’t get one for 91.13. Careless and reckless. Let’s see,...
I have avoided people who I have felt were not “learners”. They very well could have been “students” but we all know that all students are not learners.
I did ask the owner of a flight school I...

Similar discussion going on over on Beechtalk.com. It seems to be that the consensus there is previous time/experience is valid. Doesn’t make me correct. I think in the Martha case this was...
Credit for previous time. All a person would need is to pass the written, get the required prep time from a CFI, get recommended for the check ride by a CFI via IACRA (8710-1) and pass the practical...
Or when the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing
Capitol in DC evacuated because of an unknown threat aircraft. Turns out it was a US Army helicopter dropping paratrooper(s) into...
I think the OP said he tried Andover several times with no response. Maybe your link is better.
Always loved that yellow/black combo. First free flight model plane I built when I was 10 years old got that scheme. (1956) and my first biplane ride in 1967 was in a yellow and black Fleet model 2....
The plane is an L19 and doesn’t even have a socket now, so we probably will install a panel mount. I did find at least one that is 12/24.

Thanks Web
i searched better and did find some that say 12/24. Many of them as advertised don’t say the input voltage. But all good now.

Friend just bought an airplane with a 28 volt system. Will a standard off the self adapter run on 28 volts or is there a special one? Google has me confused.
Thanks

I’m taking the online Gleim course to renew my CFI. I’m finding this a good choice as it keeps me up to date on new FAA terminology. For example when you show your STUDENT how to climb into the...
Had the fuel pump gasket leak on the IO 540 in my Comanche years ago. Didn’t look as bad as yours but difficult to find. I was doing oil analysis at the time and also saw elevated aluminum which went...
Bucker Jungmann or Jungmeister. I get them confused. One is single cockpit the other has two. Siemens Halske engine. Circa mid thirties. Sorry for spelling.
WAC
WACO UPF-7 with Stearman exhaust and Curtiss reed prop. I think :-)
The tail brace wires could be too tight. There is spec for that I think. The brackets that are at both ends of the flying wires and fasten to the stab and the vertical fin have to be able to move...
If your instructor doesn’t think you can make that trip safely he has no business recommending you to take the test.
OK City recently came down on one FSDO at least I know of for lax oversight of its DPE’s. Result one DPE not renewed, two others suspended with results pending. These folks were cutting corners and...
I’m not sure of this, but the DPE may not have a choice. Depends on what tasks are required by the ACS. I confess I have not read it lately.
I assume this is for PPL, not Sport Pilot.
Rich.
