    PA-18 (L-21A) downloadable drawings

I was able to get 968 pages out of the 993. The document says 993, but the last page available is 968. Thanks! I have a 1951 L-21A, but not these drawings. I just tried again. Google drive says 993, but opening the file in Acrobat, with the same last page, calls the last page 968 out of 993!

Maiden flight advice and tailwheel instruction reccomendations in Colorado

We had a guy a few of years ago that started his tailwheel training in a Citabria, and then added some more training in the front seat of a Pitts S2A. The long-time tailwheel instructor pronounced him good to go. The guy shortly thereafter bought a Smith Miniplane. A nice one too. Paid cash...

Maiden flight advice and tailwheel instruction reccomendations in Colorado

Don't push your luck with those high speed taxi runs. Just because it worked out so far doesn't guarantee the next time will. Particularly if the wind starts jumping around. Tailwheel instructors will be much more familiar with how and when to intervene to save your ass. Tailwheel "qualified"...

Maiden flight advice and tailwheel instruction reccomendations in Colorado

Maxr, Be EXTREMELY careful with tail up high speed taxi runs. I wouldn't recommend it without a good TW instructor in the back seat. Things can turn to s**t very, very fast. After you get good, fine, but not as a newbie to tailwheel airplanes, signoff or not. I think it's safer to just go fly...

    I-pad / I-phone over heating time out

A friend of mine has one of these from MyGoFlight and really likes it. Says it stops overheating in direct sunlight. I haven't tried one, but I intend to as soon as I pick up a new iPad mini. https://mygoflight.com/products/ipad-mini-6-kneeboard-mountable-case

    Inspection plates falling off

I got a little more carried away. My plastic rings were glued to the outside without any reinforcing patch on top. Rather that glue a patch over the paint, I made up some aluminum rings (split so they could get through the hole) and epoxied them in place on the inside of the inspection hole. The...

Throttle cable housing slipping in the clamp

You might try wrapping the cable housing with safety wire on both sides of the clamp and tying it to the clamp. Wrap one side right at the edge of the clamp to the clamp, then carry the wrap onto the other side of the cable right at the edge. That should prevent the cable from slipping in either...

    External loads on experimentals?

i'm not sure nowadays, but quite a few years ago I ended up with modified operating limits after load testing the wing, and flight testing. We built two large external under wing camera mounts for my experimental Stephens Akro where were we then allowed to carry one or two 90lb IMAX cameras...

    Retired California Highway Patrol 185’s

We have one on the field here in Redlands. It was rebuilt at about 10K, has quite a bit more on it now. It's flown regularly by its current owner, a retired CHP pilot who flew 185s and 206s for the CHP. It seems to be in really nice shape and I'd love to have it!

    EXP Exhibition - Less Restrictive?

Exactly what would be your benefit to go Experimental Exhibition instead of regular Experimental? Why send in a program letter if you don't have to? A friend of mine, with the help of the EAA, kind of went to war last year because the local FSDO want him to change his long-standing Experimental...

    Fresno?

My dad and I used a Fresno to dig out a hillside for our new house in 1960. No horses though, only a little Fordson tractor!

Carbon Monoxide- what level is dangerous?

Don't forget, exposure to carbon monoxide is cumulative over several hours, and the levels don't drop rapidly when exposure is terminated. On room air, the half-life (time to reduce concentration by one-half) of carboxy hemoglobin (carbon monoxide bound to hemoglobin in place of oxygen) is 320...
