I removed the illustrated charging kit from my 1974 PA18-150
It is sat in a box of surplus parts trying to find a good home but a bit "old school" now.
If this is of any use then I am sure we can get it to you somehow.
Kind regards
Stew
Apologies for the thread creep but thought a couple of you guys might be interested what happened to an old L-19 glider tug from Hawaii
It was shipped to the UK and has been totally rebuild.
Kind regards
Stew
Before you bail out of this tailwheel, it looks like an original Scott 3200 and you would only be able to replace it with a "aftermarket" one.
I am an enthusiastic amateur but armed with Steve Pierce's video and all the other good stuff on this site, I took my "serviceable" tailwheel apart and...

When I started the restoration of the SuperCub, one thing that was near the top of the list was a decent catch that held the window open in flight.
The original catch was weak and we modified it with a small rubber castration ring around the wings which was a partial...
If soda blasting is an option for you then I would certainly consider that, pretty gentle on the metal and the media (baking soda) coats the metal in the process and delays the oxidisation until you get to apply the final coating.
We went with soda blasting and then a two pack primer, in the...
I put one of these over the wings of the cabinet latch and it improves things somewhat but no substitute for a proper solution. If not available easily in the US, happy to post some over.
One of the most distracting things when flying with the door open is waiting for it to drop out of the...
Very many thanks for that, we tried everything with the old latch including a rubber castration ring around the leaves of the catch spring.
Perhaps steer clear of the spar when you have the drill in your hand, it has been done I know for sure.
Kind regards
Stew
Just doing that, the plan is for a decent latch as Steve mentions and the one from CubCrafters is the option we like.
We have the tank out at the moment so it will be securely mounted with a little plate inside the skin but yet to finalise that (Bill Rusk rolls his eyes at the extra weight)...
It certainly can
I used the purpose shims from Univair and got them set up really good without the spring.
Fitted the spring and it was terrible. After a couple of days I concluded that the spring coil was being pressed onto the shaft by the ply floor and secondly, the coil was not sitting...
