    Texas popsicle

Pics of our airport in the San Antonio area. Taken from our 180 on Monday morning. We were the only ones out all week. Dry snow on Monday and a heavy wet snow on Thursday. Had the power turned off 30 times in 4 days, averaging 30-45 minutes. We feel very lucky.

O-320-B2B (160 hp) - applying full throttle results in huge EGT drop

Do you have fuel flow numbers by chance? What was done to the carburetor and by whom? Does it ever appear to make full power at any mixture setting or always seems off? Have you pulled a plug and looked at it, real white or soot black? GM

    C180/185 jackscrew inspection cover

You can thank me for the cheaper part. I just purchased a Cessna kit from Yingling. $$$$$$$$. Hundred per $. Damn high for what you get. BTW. The new part is not PMA’d yet. Legal? GM

    Supercub with Cessna gear legs

Sorry for the pic, thought relevant but guess was wrong. The 12 bungee truss is not really that big or that heavy. Certainly not enough to significantly add to the structure required to hold individual spring steel gear legs. GM

    Supercub with Cessna gear legs

An interesting Super Cruiser seen recently at New Braunfels Texas. Could not see the method of gear attachment. GM

    PA12 Cruiser rebuild/upgrade project

No real progress on the project (ran) 12, but worked on the new (red) 12 this weekend. Intalled new bungees and pa18 tailfeathers. -The red 12 had two large diameter bungees of unkown capacity on each side that were several years old. The plane wollowed on taxi and squated on landing. After...

    PA12 Cruiser rebuild/upgrade project

That is what I was looking for. All my searches were unsuccessful. Is it a Super Cruiser, Cruiser, 12, -12, PA12, PA-12, etc. Thanks, GM

    PA12 Cruiser rebuild/upgrade project

Not much done on the old Cruiser. Right wing: tank fit, flap bell crank bracket fit and drilled, flap hangars figured out, butt rib relocated. Waiting for new aileron trailing edges to fit everything. Too many projects. The new "red" cruiser is doing well. All owners now checked out and our low...

    Changing out PA-12 bungee cords

I have a friend who tore the side of face open installing PA12 bungees with a pry bar. Like I said in an earlier post, the install is easy and as safe as can be with the correct bungee tool. Less than an hours work. Now I have a question with much controversy. How many of which bungee on...

    PA12 Cruiser rebuild/upgrade project

Flew the new PA12 home today. Need to get the CFI checked out with 10 hours. Two partners need CFI checkouts and the other has 17 in type, but needs a tailwheel endorsement. A few small squawks and figuring out the plane.

    PA12 Cruiser rebuild/upgrade project

I talked to Dakota Cub today and they are going to send me a pair of 10703-03's. Using the 10703-04's at the inboard flap hinge point would require rib relocation or severe modification to clear the bell-crank and control rod, the bell-crank stop would be so high that the front aileron cable...

    PA12 Cruiser rebuild/upgrade project

Back to building. We are assembling the right wing and fitting the flaps. What a pain. This has been mentioned here on other threads and we are trying to figure out what direction to go. These are stock wings and we are adding Dakota Cub flaps with a Sullivan STC. The STC calls for two...

    PA12 Cruiser rebuild/upgrade project

That's the point. When making 220 horse power in an IO360 you will have to burn fuel. It takes 200-250 degrees ROP to keep the CHT's down and the engine protected from detonation. EGT is the quickest way to know where you are. Best power at high power settings is bad for the engine. This is...

    PA12 Cruiser rebuild/upgrade project

EGT control I started a PA12 build thread and we on to EGT readings. My 12 had a single CHT/EGT gauge that had little use except to help keep the CHT on one cylinder in check when leaning in cruise. My RV8 has a 200+ H.P. Angle valve IO360 engine. Mixture control is important in almost all...
