My PA-12 has the original horizontally hinged door and I note it would be a task of just a few minutes to undo the 2 hinge bolts and make it into a convertible 
I’ve noticed these fixing things around the door frame and wonder if they’re meant to retain a safety net or similar, when the aircraft is flown open cockpit? Does anybody have these fixings and whatever they secure and are open door PA-12 adventures a common thing to do?
