Gear Serial Numbers

I have the gear legs off for refinishing.
The right one has a six number serial number which is correct for a late 180 according to what I have read.
However, the left has a letter and three numbers which is supposed to be for a 170 gear.

They are identical in dimension and weight. They weigh 35# each which is correct for late 180.

Any theories as to the different serial number formats?

IMHO Tom Anderson of The Landing Gear Works is the authority on Cessna gear legs.
Contact him with questions...
or better yet, just pop for a set of his titanium gear legs.

Any useful ideas? I got the serial number info from his website! These are going back on.

The left hand gear leg was changed in 93 with P/N 0741001-7 which is a heavy 180 leg but the serial number is B546. Does not compute. Are part numbers stamped anywhere? Don't see any.
