View Full Version : Where does the water go?

Another dumb question!

Does water ever enter the pitot system when flying in the rain? If so, is there a certain way that the lines should be run? What about the static system. Or am I over analizing all of this.

sometimes they do get plugged with water or dust at a low spot... will show as a slow/no response on airspeed to go down....

and you unhook from instruments and blow the lines out...

happened to me on like my first flight after getting soloed with a whole 5 or 6 hours to my name... boy not fun with no feel yet...

Aviat Husky's have a moisture issue with this due to the routing of the lines aft of their large, straight Pitot tube. It is a constand problem with them.

I have never had this issue with a Cub. The way the water must travel 'up' after entering on a Cub must be what saves us the issue. DAVE
