Scott Wheel Cylinder Repair on PA12

It's been awhile since I had to replace a wheel cylinder diaphragm in my PA12. Which way does the spring go... one end is closed while the other end is open? I recall placing the closed end of the spring against the diaphragm. Is that correct?

I assume you are talking about the brake master cylinder, not a wheel cylinder???

As I recall, there is a flat plate between the spring and the rubber. Everything should fit well, probably with the big end of the spring on the big plate, and the little end in that pocket. But I actually don't remember.
