By the end of summer, I will have a strip in front of my cabin. Long project that basically took three years. A pilot friend in the Lower 48 has a side business putting up web cams and online ATIS for private strips so people see the weather before they drive to their strip. I told him I would post his site here for people who park at private strips.
For my strip, which is 30 miles from ANC, I only need a cam and maybe a wind indicator (it can howl out there). That way I could check to see if the strip in the scud or open before heading out there. But I will need some kind of cell phone hookup that can be recharged by solar or wind.
