High cylinder temperature on a 0-290-D2 engine

Hallo Cub pilots,
Could anyone give some comment on the following matter. I have a 0-290-da2 engine that has done 120 hours since overhaul. The temperature in the nb.3 cylinder is near 450 regardless of outside temperature and full rich mixture. The oil temperature is normal. The baffel plates are in good shape and are fitting the cowling.
Will this high temperature in the end result in a broken exhaust valve?
In an earlier engine this happened and I had to make an emergency landing in a field. By that time we did not have a gauge for the cylinder temperature.
I will be grateful for any comment.

Max cylinder head temp on all the Lycomings that I am aware of is 500 degrees. If you are using a thermocouple with a washer under the spark plug it will normally read 50 degrees high. You might try moving your probe to another cylinder if it is a single probe unit and see what the rest are reading.
