Stits with Polytone on the fabric and Aerothane and Ranthane on the metal. Shot the Polytone cold with a turbine HVLP and it glossed out. I could never get away from the orange peel with the turbine. I have several friends who paint and after researching some of the paint sites I bought the Sata. I think the old Binks work great but this thing is like magic. Plan on using the Stewart System so I wanted a good pressure gun. _________________ Steve Pierce

| Hi Steve. This looks good. Please let us know how you like the Stewart Systems when you use it. I just purchased the cd set and am waiting for them to arrive. I'm considering this process. It looks good and looks easy to apply but I would like to hear from others. |

HEY, are you trying to imply that someone might try to fly the tail off of it until you get here? |

Watch out Bill.
I stayed there with my plane last time we worked on it and they still flew it more than I did
Hey Dave, you always do mechanic work with welding gloves? Old habits die hard?

He wears his welding hat all day too. You never know when you might have to strike an arc. _________________ Steve Pierce

Well today was they day. After putting 39Y on the scales and tidying up the brake lines it was time to run her up. Everything came together, the rain stopped and late this afternoon 39Y took to the Texas skies. I did a test hop and everything was good. Lee was wearing me out about getting to go so we took her up one more time. Had to fly around his school since we were supposed to be there for the annual "Hot Dog Supper". Well needless to say we were a little late but we both had a huge smile on our face. Looks like tomorrows weather is going to be real nice so it will be Cathy's turn. By the way Bill, there is no hurry for you to get back to Texas. _________________ Steve Pierce

Cathy-
Get off the computer and make sure the white and read plane is broken in correctly and all flight tests are complete! You only have 7 days left!

I have a question about the paint scheme, the old one had the large reg number and the new one is small on the tail, how come? More precisely, I'm aware older planes are allowed to have the smaller N-number but I thought if you had the big one you had to keep it. I guess I'm wrong?

I was waiting for Bill Tracy to answer this but I'll comment. There is a thread here on the regulations. http://www.supercub.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=20421
Main reason is the smaller numbers are less identifiable. Some people cause problems when we are doing everything by the book. No reason to have a billboard on the side of the plane telling everyone who you are. I am sure there are many people who can relate stories of such. Good thing about red and white Super Cubs is that it is a popular paint scheme and I hear that it is the Montana State Bird. _________________ Steve Pierce
