| How is this firewall insulation inside the cockpit on a PA-18 fixed? There are some screws and cables going through the firewall and the insulation. Is it glued additionally, if yes how? What is the work involved to have it exchanged? |

Nothing to it...
Just pull the prop, cowling, engine, engine mount, firewall/cowl, (careful of the windscreen & inst. panel), and then tear oiut the old one, glue in the newie, poke holes, install grommets, install all the above.
If you have a midget helper you MIGHT get away with just cutting out the old one, gluing in the new one (with several slits to get around the control cables, & etc.) _________________ Nimpo Lake Logan... newbie SuperCub owner

Nimpo Cub,
that sounds frightening. Never expected to pull all things out in front of the insulation!
Shouldn´t it be possible to change it from the inside?
What glue?
BTW what is a midget helper? |

Well, that's how they're put together.
If you can find someone small enough or flexible enough to get in under the panel, cut out the existing insulation & glue in another piece. (Well three pieces)
Contact cement should work well.
Make sure it's important enough before you start. What would a new piece gain you? _________________ Nimpo Lake Logan... newbie SuperCub owner

| The old one is broken and temporary repaired with tape. Doesn´t look so nice to me. |

Maybe just glue another one over your ugly one.
Ask your AME if you're allowed to do that if you're cert!!
Anything else ugly that I can help you with?
I'm gonna make a sign for my shop: Masectomys 5c.
